Te second I always do in a new place is to find best way to move around, quick and cheap :)
In Paris that would be definitely subway.
Subway system is very well organised, you can get everywhere in short time, avoiding traffic. And about traffic, the French or maybe shall I say Parisian drivers are so impatient and I say that being very polite. Also considering Paris is extremely expensive, price for subway ticket is reasonable.

Was the Metro not packed? I remember it being crowded all the time and the French are not as well behaved as the English: they don't like queuing ;-). Cinnamon x
